Overview: Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan
The Hoyo De Monterrey Le Hoyo De San Juan is a new Geniales Vitola with a length of 150mm with a 54 ring gauge. This cigar was the first of the Le Hoyo series, being released in 2014.
Hoyo De Monterrey uses the finest Seco and Ligero leaves in their blend for the Le Hoyo series which are some of the most desirable in Cuba, being grown in San Juan Y Martinez in the Vuelta Abajo zone. This Cigar is handmade.
The De San Juan is a versatile cigar, beginning with warm cedar aromas that had a distinct sweetness to it. Once lit this cigar was full of flavourful notes like cedar and tea, it is fairly light in its body but offers a generous amount of smoke. We also found notes of citrus and fresh cut grass as the complexity picked up in the second half, with a sweet caramel and a touch of spice of flavour finishing off this smoke. The total smoke time lasted us around 90 minutes.
The box of 25 cigars are beautifully presented, bundled and banded with a white silk ribbon imprinted with the Hoyo de Monterrey name
This new vitola’s blend only uses Seco and Ligero leaves from San Juan y Martínez, the historic Cuban Denomination of Origin where the brand was born in 1865. The light flavour of its blend makes it an attractive option for those who like a lighter Habano that is delicate and aromatic, as well as exceedingly elegant and complex.
Delicate and aromatic with notes of earth, cedar and spice complimented with a creamy mix of vanilla and cinnamon. Elegant yet complex smoke, perfect for an afternoon coffee break.
